Therapeutic Horsemanship -- Changing the Lives of New Yorkers with Disabilities

Volunteer Spotlight: John and Carla Scagnelli
John and Carla Scagnelli are a power couple that go above and beyond to support our riders – no job is too big or too small for them, from lead walking, side walking, filling water buckets and cleaning stalls, to helping with fundraising and strategies to enhance our resources.
“We have been volunteering with GallopNYC for nearly a year and have witnessed first-hand the impact that the programs have had on people with disabilities. Every single time we leave a session after a few hours, we’re a little dirtier and a lot more inspired. We see children who rarely speak words give commands loudly and clearly to their horse. We see children who gain enough core strength to sit upright. The program truly changes lives.” – John Scagnelli
