GallopNYC, a therapeutic horseback riding program for New Yorkers with disabilities, is pleased to announce that James M. Wilson has accepted the position of Executive Director of GallopNYC, effective April 2, 2019.

James M. Wilson served as GallopNYC’s Director of Operations for five years and was instrumental in GallopNYC’s expansion and the success of its two stables in NYC. The GallopNYC Board of Directors, including founder Alicia Kershaw, unanimously welcomes Mr. Wilson to this well deserved role.

Mr. Wilson joined GallopNYC as a volunteer in April 2011. He has an extensive background in retail; both buying and planning, full-line department store and off-price. His love of horses goes back to his home town in Texas, and a deep family connection to horses. Mr. Wilson holds a Bachelor of Science, Agribusiness, and a Master of Science, Marketing from Texas A&M University. He is a PATH Int’l Certified Therapeutic Riding Instructor, an Irwin Insights Trainer, CHA Certified Equine Facility Director, and an Equine Experiential Education Level 1 Certified Trainer.

Mr. Wilson will serve as Interim Executive Director for one year. During that time, he will lead GallopNYC and the board in a strategic review to determine the best path forward to achieve GallopNYC’s vision that every child with a disability in New York City has access to therapeutic horseback riding.

Nicole L. Cicogna resigned as Executive Director effective March 30, 2019. GallopNYC sincerely thanks Ms. Cicogna for her enthusiastic and tireless dedication to GallopNYC’s mission.
