GallopNYC Horse Heroes Society: Guardians

GallopNYC has been serving people with disabilities in New York City since 2005, thanks to our amazing herd of 24 wonderful horses.

The ideal therapy horse is sound, has an unflappable temperament and unlimited heart. Our horses come from many different backgrounds including the show ring, the amateur circuit and the racetrack. Keeping our equine educators happy and healthy is a priority, as the horses are true heroes of our programs.

By becoming a GallopNYC Guardian, for $5,000 a year, you can provide the means necessary to continue the high-quality care of our horses so they can continue their important work. Below, we’re pleased to introduce you to our herd.

GallopNYC Horse Heroes Society: Champions

Our therapy horses are the key to GallopNYC’s effective therapeutic programming. We hold ourselves to the highest standards of horse care and have won awards and grants for our work with horses.

The pandemic reminded us that our community is resilient and passionate about the horses at the center of our transformative work, which is why we’re inviting you to join our Horse Heroes Society as a Champion. This group of horse lovers is committed to sustaining the efforts of GallopNYC’s horse care through monthly giving. The challenges and costs of keeping and caring for a herd in New York City are unique. We pay a premium for our location, from the real estate and land required for turnout, to veterinarian and farrier visits, and staples such as hay, medicine and feed. Our therapy horses often come to GallopNYC as a second career - meaning they are older and require a higher level of care.
